A Storyteller mindset

As a creator, I’ve wondered who cares what I do. And honestly, what I discovered is simpler than you think.

Let me explain…

You are looking at your content, thinking it features “Apate” music and follows the trend, likes all over the place, but still no conversion. Your audience still doesn’t recognise you. Remember, likes don’t mean much. There are two ways to be recognisable, either by building credibility or by being creative. You win your place and the trust of the community by being good and reliable. Well, that takes a long time. Serve the same service creatively, and your audience not only loves it but also subscribes to see more. All you’ve got to do is… be yourself!

I know it is a cliche, but imagine a storyteller…

telling you a story. How about a story of learning not to lie, ever!

A storyteller talks about anything they find interesting, whether it’s what they believe in or what they find funny. I told a story about honesty, about transparency, and learning. It burns my soul to tell that to anyone, but I know that to someone in my circle, it connects. Now is the time to establish your online identity the way that matters. On social media, it takes more than just following a trend. Decide what you stand for in life and show it on the screen.

Making business decisions is tough, like me doing that exactly right now. Making a website, social media. Then, sticking out like a sore thumb. I’ve never done that! But a great story begins here! The values I stand for will be loud and heard.

Depending on what your business is, your client can be one or thousands. What they all have in common is a they like good stories! Your narrative starts by digging into who you are as a business or who you want to be.

It isn’t about most likes or shares because people watch all sorts of things! I watch clips of crazy things in the animal kingdom, like cannibal butterflies. It’s about talking to people through your channels. Just like when you present yourself in the shop or office.

Next: Listen to Your Audience

Then you acknowledge what is being said to you, and you address that! It’s as simple as that. If you don’t have reviews, then you are probably in the first phase. If you have reviews and still have no customers, then it’s because you are not listening.

Two points to keep in mind here are that social media is about creating value and communication. There are certain trends and guidelines to follow, but not for converting the audience to loyal customers.
